MossRomp / Behind the play

Behind the ball.
Meet MossRomp.

A worry about my own dog became the starting point for MossRomp. This is the story behind our first toy, the material we chose and the care we want to bring to the moments you share.

Our beginning

Pet safety first. More play, together.

MossRomp Founder

It began with my own dog.

Before MossRomp had a name, I was simply a dog owner choosing toys for my own dog. I wanted what so many of us want: something that would make an ordinary day more fun. Then my dog swallowed fragments from a toy that had broken apart. A small thing I had bought for a happy moment had become a source of worry, and it changed the way I looked at everything I brought home for playtime.

After that experience, choosing a toy no longer felt like a decision about its color or shape alone. I found myself asking what it was made of, how it might wear, and what I should do when it was damaged. I also thought about how difficult those questions can be to answer when you are looking at a product online. As an owner, I wanted clearer information and a brand that would still be there when I needed help.

That concern became the starting point for MossRomp. I brought it to our team, and we began developing Big Ball around the kind of play we wanted to encourage: curious, active and shared with the people dogs trust. We are building a brand focused on pet toys, with pet safety as the first consideration in the choices we make about materials, design and care.

For Big Ball, we chose an eTPU outer shell with chew resistance, a lighter feel and quieter everyday play as design priorities. We paired the shell with automatic movement because we wanted the toy to invite a dog's curiosity and give the person nearby a reason to join in. The material and the movement serve the same purpose: to make room for more shared play, whether that begins with a little chase at home or time together outdoors.

The experience with my own dog also taught me that a promise needs to be honest about its limits. No toy is indestructible, and the name of a material cannot tell you everything about a finished product. Dogs play differently, and choosing a suitable size, checking the toy and staying nearby all matter. We want those details to be easy to find, so you can make a considered choice and know when it is time to stop a play session.

For us, that responsibility continues after a toy leaves our hands. Our 10-Day Chew Replacement gives you a route to help if an eligible ball is chewed apart during normal, supervised play: contact us and return it as instructed so we can check it and send a replacement. Our five-ball take-back exchange offers a separate way to return eligible damaged balls for a new toy. The full terms explain each program, including shipping, so the promise comes with a process you can understand.

As MossRomp grows, we want that same care to carry into every new toy. We want to listen to what owners tell us, keep explaining our choices and take responsibility for the material handling of toys returned through our program. We began with a concern for one dog, and it still guides the brand we are building. Our hope is simple: that the things we make give you and your dog more moments to enjoy together, with thoughtful care before, during and after play.

02 / Our material

Why we chose
eTPU.

Big Ball pairs an eTPU outer shell with an automatic movement mechanism inside. USB charging powers the movement. The material and the mechanism have different jobs.

For a toy made for movement, we wanted to consider how the outer shell would feel in everyday play as well as how it would wear. That is why chew resistance, a lighter feel and a quieter experience guided our choice of eTPU for Big Ball. These are the priorities behind our choice; they do not mean the finished toy cannot be damaged.

Choosing a material also means explaining what it is. eTPU is a synthetic material, and Big Ball contains rechargeable electrical components. Our nature-inspired approach is about inviting curiosity and shared activity. It does not mean the ball is made entirely from natural materials. For use and care, we ask owners to inspect the whole toy and supervise each session.

We also want a route for old toys to come back to us. Through our five-ball exchange, eligible damaged MossRomp balls can be returned and we arrange their material handling. This is the practical step behind our take-back commitment; it is not a claim that every component can be recycled or that the toy has no environmental impact.

What eTPU means
Expanded thermoplastic polyurethane: a foamed form of TPU. Big Ball uses it for the outer shell.
Where it sits in Big Ball
The eTPU shell surrounds the internal movement mechanism. The ball measures 3.35 inches (8.5 cm) across and is intended for supervised interactive play.
Nature-inspired style, clearly described
Our name, colors and illustrations take inspiration from nature. Big Ball’s shell is made with synthetic eTPU.
